Freedom Through the Water with Honu Para Swim Team

Join Marianne Alvarez on Monday, September 23rd from 12-1 PT for a presentation about the Honu Para Swim Society, and learn more about para swimming and the achievements of para swimming athletes!

The Honu Para Swim Society is a Vancouver-based open water swimming team for paralympic swimmers. It is dedicated to helping people with different abilities experience the feeling of freedom that water can give.

Marianne Alvarez, Head Coach of the Honu Para Swim Team, is the Founder and Director of the Honu Para Swim Society, which is umbrellaed under the Canadian Disability Foundation.

Please note that this live event will be recorded and streamed to Facebook and YouTube, where it will remain available for our community to enjoy after the session has ended. Closed captioning for this event will be available on these platforms.

Participation in any of the aforementioned organizations is subject to the observance of the Disability Foundation and affiliated societies’ rules and procedures. Staff, volunteers, and clients are part of a team and expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. This means that physical harm, verbal or written abuse, harassment of any kind, and any bullying behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone found to have committed conduct prohibited by the societies is subject to disciplinary actions as deemed fit by the Executive Director, up to and including removal from the programs.
