Did you know that you can fundraise on behalf of the Disability Foundation and our Affiliated Societies? Here are some helpful resources before you get started to ensure a successful event:
Who can you fundraise for
The Disability Foundation & affiliated societies
In supporting 6 affiliated Societies, the Disability Foundation fosters meaningful experiences for people with disabilities through recreation, social connectedness and innovative adapted devices.
The Disability Foundation primarily supports the 6 charitable organizations listed below:
BC Mobility Opportunities Society (BCMOS) provides opportunities for people with physical disabilities to access outdoor recreation.
Tetra Society builds innovative solutions for people with physical disabilities to overcome environmental barriers, providing greater independence, quality of life, and inclusion.
Disabled Independent Gardeners Association (DIGA) provides opportunities for people with physical disabilities to actively participate in gardening.
ConnecTra Society helps people with physical disabilities connect with work, leisure and social opportunities.
Vancouver Adapted Music Society (VAMS) offers programs for musicians of all level of musical and physical ability to learn, record, jam, compose and perform live.
Adaptive Sailing Association of BC (ASABC) provides opportunities for people with physical disabilities to experience recreational and competitive sailing in fully accessible sailboats.
Getting started
How to plan your event
Where do I start? If you’re interested in running a fundraiser, please follow these steps:
- Confirm your event – think about who can help with organizing, attending, and donating to your fundraising event. Set a fundraising goal.
- Fill out our fundraiser check-list to keep your goal on track.
- Submit your Third Party Fundraising Application Form & wait for approval.
- Promote and host your fundraiser.
- Follow-up with us after your fundraiser! We love to hear about your success.
Setting a Goal
When setting a goal, consider the following
Maximize your impact by setting a specific goal. Think about how much money you wish to raise, and how many people you wish to reach.
What are you trying to accomplish?
- What is the ideal image of your end result?
Who are you trying to reach?
- Decide on your key audiences before planning your campaign.
What can they do?
- Be clear on what you want from your audience. What are they being called to action to help achieve?
Once you have a goal, submit your Application Form!
Follow Up
Follow Up After Your Fundraiser
- Collect all your donations – follow up on pledges. We ask you to submit your raised funds within 30 days post-event.
- Send a note of sincere thanks to donors and event helpers. Let them know what funds were raised to help people with disabilities!
- Email your donation forms for those eligible for a tax receipt to info@disabilityfoundation.org
- If designating funds, please note the Society or program in the memo.
- Cheques should be issued to “Disability Foundation” and mailed to:
