Are you interested in disability representation in literature? Do you want to share titles you’ve enjoyed and get great recommendations from like-minded readers? Then join Beyond the Cover!

Find your next read and engage in insightful discussion on the representation of disabilities in literature through our exciting collaboration with Vancouver Public Library for our new book club, Beyond the Cover: An Exploration of Disability in Literature.

VPL’s Georgia Franklin will host sessions online over Zoom on January 23rd, February 27th, March 26th, and April 23rd from 11 AM – 12 PM PT. We will explore genres like contemporary fiction, fantasy, and biography and their representations of people with disabilities. In each session, we will share books that centre disabled voices and experiences. Together, we will celebrate the beauty of diversity, one page at a time.

Georgia Franklin works in the Vancouver Public Library’s Accessible Services Department, where she helps support library users with mobility issues or print disabilities. Georgia enjoys being outside in nature, cooking and spending time with her family when she’s not at work.
